A city to live in peace and grow as a family.
Donders City, a blessing for Suriname.
Dignified homes, schools, a hospital, shops and sports a few steps from your door. For public employees, workers, ordinary people and Surinamese who want to return to their homeland.
Those who serve Suriname deserve a home.
Peerke Donders gave his life in Suriname to those whom society had set aside: people with leprosy, the enslaved and Indigenous peoples. Today, the people left out of housing are the ones who keep the country running: teachers, nurses, police officers, firefighters, public employees, working families, ordinary people and Surinamese who want to return to their homeland. Donders City honors that spirit of service: no one who serves Suriname should be left without a home.
Explore the city, stop by stop.
The images are illustrative renders. The final city may not be the same: it depends on the work of architects and engineers and on government approvals and permits. Our intention is for it to look as close as possible. Location: to be designated.
You have walked the city. Now all it needs is you.

Extra points in the allocation
Those who register earn extra points when homes are allocated. The points system will be published here, defined together with the authorities.
Be the first to know
Every step, every announcement and the opening of each process reach the people on the list first.
Have a say
We will ask what your family needs so we can design the city: homes, services, hours, shops.
Make it count
Every registration shows this city is needed. The more families, the stronger the project.
Registering is not a reservation and does not guarantee a home: it earns extra points and keeps you on the list of those who will make this city real.
The community we are looking for
A different kind of community, built on help, respect and solidarity with neighbors.
All we need are residents with civic spirit: responsible toward nature, careful with property and supportive of the community. May every person progress in education, every home and street be clean and cared for, young people have a future, the elderly be looked after, and parents have a safe place for their family.
It depends on the community. If you feel this is for you and you are ready to take on the commitment, we need you.
How it works
Stage 1: subsidized rent
Open to every kind of public employee and to the general public. Rent is adjusted to your income.
Stage 2: purchase with financing
The installment depends on your income, not on the cost of the home, and is subsidized. It will be agreed with the Government in an additional MOU.
Who can apply
The criteria and the points system, including the extra points for registering, are being defined together with the authorities and will be published here. Registered people will be the first to know.
Cost to the State: none
The funding is non-repayable, with no debt or State guarantees.
Questions
How much does it cost?
There are no prices yet. Rent is adjusted to your income, and the purchase installment depends on your income, not on the cost of the home. Details will be published here.
When can I move in?
There is no date yet. First, a bank must open the project account and the Government must send UnASDG the letter with that account number: that starts the disbursement. Registered people are the first to know.
Does registering get me a home?
No. It is an expression of interest, not a reservation. It earns extra points for the allocation, and the points system is defined with the authorities.
What if I live outside Suriname?
This city is for you too. Mark that you live abroad and tell us which country: that way we know how many people want to return and from where.
Can I buy instead of renting?
A second stage will offer purchase with financing. The installment depends on your income and will be subsidized. It will be agreed with the Government in an additional MOU.
Do the pictures show what the city will look like?
They are illustrative renders. The final city may not be the same, because it depends on the work of architects and engineers and on government approvals and permits. Our intention is for it to look as close as possible.
Will I be asked for money to register?
No. Registering is free. If anyone asks you for money on behalf of Donders City, write to us at [email protected].
